Hello and welcome to Kay Rey Creations!
If you have landed on this page then I am going to assume you want to know a little about what this website is about.
Kay Rey Creations is run by a nearly 40 year old mum of 5 in North Yorkshire, England.
I am better known as Nikki! So why Kay Rey Creations? I have for many years ran various businesses under the name enchanted sparkle, i chose that name because it was pretty and not because of any meaning. Kay is my middle name and Rey is the 1st 3 letters of my surname. It feels personal to me and for my family.
I am a chaos crafter, I make what I feel like making and what makes me happy at that time in dozens of different craft areas. I have in the past ran a very successful craft supplies business as well as a brick and mortar shop in my home town. I sadly had to close these businesses down in 2020, the complexities of family life during the pandemic made it too difficult to continue.
I have over the years since carried on with crafting and selling online on ebay and etsy, I have in that time had some very successful viral products, one year I made and sold 15k embroidered personalised reindeer candy cane holders, and for the queens platinum jubilee I sold over 1000 themed hair bows!
Now feels like the right time to get back on my feet full time and make a real go of my crafting business ventures, and with that I want to break free from the constraints of the niche that Enchanted Sparkle is linked to which was hair bows! I for sure will still make 100s of hair bows but I want to make so much more and want to build up the business from scratch.
Family is at the heart of my business, I have a son who has complex additional needs and multiple other children who are on the autism spectrum, because of this and the level of care needs within my household I am unable to work in a traditional "job" I have to find the time to work around not only my childrens very high care needs but my husbands working hours too. There sadly is no position in employment that works around my family so self employment and crafting is my only real way to make a living and contribute towards household bills. I am so excited to get back on my feet and get crafting with meaning again!
I do have a huge goal and that is to use my love of chaos crafting to help my family purchase a house! Renting just doesn't give my family the security needed (we already sadly know our landlord is selling up in 2027) and isn't adaptable for my son who as his needs require adaptions such as a wet room.
It is often said that to be successful in business you should do what makes you happy AND pick a niche. Crafting in many niches is my happiness and keeps my mind clear so rather than picking just 1 area I am just calling my niche chaos crafting!
I love making random things using my embroidery machines, I crochet, knit, sew, make jewellery, plan on making candles, plushies, stationary and so so much more. I want this website to have something on for every one and be a one stop gift shop :)
I am hoping to share my crafting journey on various social media platforms. If you come across my videos please leave me a follow to keep up to date :)
Thanks for reading - I do tend to waffle on
xx Nikki xx
